Material Selection

Stuart Robertson Furniture are responsible for every stage of the manufacturing process - including the careful selection of timber, quality fixtures and fittings, and the suitability of materials for the project.

The selection of materials is of primary importance for any project, as it may greatly influence the construction methods employed, and final design of the furniture.

Stuart Robertson Furniture choose only European and North American hardwoods from sustainable sources, including: Oak, Ash, Maple, Cherry, Walnut, Beech & Poplar. Primarily we are woodworkers, with the greatest degree of skill being employed in creating furniture with a natural wood finish.

If you choose a painted finish for your furniture, we still prefer to use a hardwood (Poplar or Tulip); to avoid shrinkage and deterioration of the finish, and create a higher quality product.
